THE LOWER-ELEMENTARY JOURNEY
Where children become leaders in learning
At Windsor Street Montessori, our elementary program is where the magic of childhood meets the wonder of deeper understanding. Here, children ages 6-9 discover not just what to learn, but how to fall in love with learning itself.
RESEARCH-BACKED BENEFITS
The evidence is clear: Montessori elementary education provides significant advantages that last a lifetime.
academic excellence
Children in Montessori elementary programs demonstrate measurable academic advantages:
On average, a full grade level ahead of peers in traditional schools
Stronger performance in math, language, and executive function skills
Higher engagement and deeper understanding of concepts
Social-Emotional Growth
Our multi-age classroom creates meaningful opportunities for social development:
Children build authentic friendships based on collaboration and shared interests
Older children develop leadership and mentoring skills
Younger children find role models and inspiration
All children learn to resolve conflicts, communicate effectively, and work together
Lifelong
Skills
The elementary years are critical for developing the qualities that lead to lifelong success:
Independence and self-motivation
Critical thinking and problem-solving
Time management and organization
Creativity and innovation
Empathy and global awareness
We're not just preparing children for the next grade—we're building the foundation for a lifetime of meaningful contribution.

THE FOOD-FORWARD* DIFFERENCE
THE FOOD-FORWARD* DIFFERENCE
Our unique food-forward* approach takes on even greater meaning in the elementary years. Here, children do more than participate in food education, they lead it.
Elementary student experiences include:
Leadership roles in our garden, learning the full cycle of food production from seed to table.
Exploring diverse cuisines as gateways to understanding different cultures and communities.
Cooking demonstrations and shared meals that cultivate confidence, independence, and a deep understanding of how food connects us all.
A DAY IN OUR LOWER-ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM
Traditional education asks children to sit still and receive knowledge. We invite them to stand tall and discover it.
In our elementary classroom, you'll find children engaging in work that ignites their natural curiosity. They're not only memorizing facts, they're building understanding through hands-on exploration, collaborative projects, and meaningful connections to the world around them.
Our days unfold with purpose and joy, following the natural rhythms of childhood while building the foundations for a lifetime of learning.
Our multi-age environment means younger children are inspired by the work of older peers, while older children strengthen their understanding through leadership and mentoring.
