A Food-Forward
Approach to
Montessori
Education

Food-forward is an approach that cultivates a healthy, mindful relationship with our planet through whole-body nourishment and understanding of the interconnectedness between culture, environment, and community.

Help Us Set A Bigger Table

Our CoMoGives campaign is bringing food-forward education to more families through scholarships, garden expansion, and teacher support.

Every gift helps our community grow.

Programs

Windsor Street Montessori serves children ages 18 months through third grade

Your child will experience a classroom unlike any other. By integrating mixed-age learning, children get the opportunity to break away from the typical classroom environment to experience an atmosphere where education is as dynamic and diverse as the students.

At Windsor Street, there’s room for everyone at the table

Through a food-focused approach to learning, your child will become a steward and leader of the community

Children at Windsor Street are empowered to care for themselves, enabling them to care for others.

Montessori education looks like children learning to:

  • Confidently pour from a pitcher, developing their fine motor skills and coordination

  • Gently bathe a baby doll, practicing empathy and compassion

  • Independently dress themselves, building self-reliance and self-esteem

Rooted in Values

Your child will walk hand-in-hand with their classmates and classroom guides to embody the Windsor Street values.

  • In embracing the Montessori way, children are empowered to be autonomous, fostering a resilience that grows within them.

Your child will learn about biodiversity and how to embody the resilience found in overcoming adversity, understanding firsthand what it means to thrive.

  • Unveiling one's best self means embracing our realness, understanding that true love and belonging blossom from the seeds of cultivated worthiness.

Children will grow to understand the value of human connection, of feeling seen and being heard, and look at others in a way that says, “I see you, and I hear you, and I want to know more”.

  • Each person in our school plays a crucial role in our collective and individual efforts to embrace interconnectedness.

In the classroom, connection transforms education into a communal adventure, where learning is not just about acquiring knowledge but about building a community that thrives on mutual respect, curiosity, and love.
