The morning of Saturday April 9, WSMS students, teachers, and families fanned out across Lions-Stephens Park to collect litter as part of the citywide Cleanup Columbia event. We volunteered as one of 113 groups picking up and bagging trash from the parks and trails of Columbia that day.

Windsor Street participates in cleanup at the park, and it features as one of the good deeds in the Go! Windsor efforts at school. As Mary wrote in the invitation to WSMS families, Cleanup Columbia “is a great opportunity for the adults in our children’s lives to model community service and care of the environment. In turn, they learn to become stewards and caretakers of the Earth, as well as caring, empathetic children who are capable of thinking beyond themselves.”
